For applicants from abroad and from Switzerland

The Athanasios organization clarifies the following: The organization has no intermediaries or external parties who charge a fee. The prices listed below are the actual costs, without any additional charges.

Costs for applicants from abroad: CHF 9500.-

The total costs for assisted dying at Athanasios for applicants from abroad are CHF 9500.- This amount covers the following services:

  • Administrative Effort: Includes the costs for the involvement of several individuals.
  • Medical Report: Creation of a report by a specialist in general medicine or psychiatry, as well as the issuance of the required prescription.
  • Room Costs and Organizational Effort: Including cleaning, material costs, personnel costs, and the entire organizational support.
  • Funeral Services: Transport within Basel, cremation, urn shipping, management of civil documents, as well as notarization and shipping of death certificates.
  • Processing Fee: A fee of CHF 100.- is due when applying for an initial personal informational meeting.
  • Deposit: The deposit for applicants from abroad is CHF 4500.-. After the registration and deposit are received, a personal counselor will be assigned to accompany you throughout the entire process leading up to the assisted dying. A video call for the introduction will be organized.
  • Remaining Payment: The remaining amount of CHF 5000.- must be paid no later than two weeks before the agreed date. The appointment will be confirmed once full payment has been made.

 

  • Cancellation after receiving the approval from the organization and during the process: If the assisted suicide is canceled or postponed after receiving the approval from the organization and during the process, a fee of CHF 4000.- will be charged to cover the already incurred expenses. This fee will be deducted from the amount already paid. The difference between the deposit already paid will be refunded. A new appointment can only be arranged after the full payment of the total amount for the assisted dying.

If needed, the following additional services can be arranged:

  • Care by a professional
  • Pickup from the train station or airport (wheelchair or stretcher transport available) to the hotel
  • Transport from the hotel to the assisted dying location

For these additional services, you will receive an individual quote upon request.

Costs for people residing in Switzerland: CHF 4500.-

The total costs for assisted dying at Athanasios are CHF 4500.- This amount covers the following services:

  • Administrative Effort: Covers the costs for several involved individuals.
  • Issuing of a Medical Report: A specialist in general medicine or psychiatry creates the required report and issues the prescription.
  • Room Costs and Organizational Effort: Includes costs for the premises, cleaning, materials, staff, and overall organization.

Costs fort he Funeral Home and the Transport:

  • People residing in Switzerland are responsible for the costs relating to the Funeral Home, the coffin, the body transport, the cremation, the urn and its shipping. Additionally, no international death certificate is required, which simplifies the bureaucratic process.
  • For foreign applicants, all costs, including those relating to the Funeral Home and transport, as well as to the International Death Certificate, are already included in the total amount.
  • Registration Fee: A fee of CHF 100.- is due upon application for the initial personal informational meeting.
  • Deposit: The deposit for the assisted dying is CHF 2500.- After the registration and deposit are received, a personal counselor will be assigned to accompany you throughout the entire process leading up to the assisted dying. A video call will be organized to discuss the first details.
  • Remaining Payment: The remaining amount must be paid no later than two weeks before the agreed date. The appointment will be confirmed once full payment has been made.
