The team speaks several languages, including English, French, Spanish, Italian,Portuguese, Norwegian, Swedish, Dutch and Danish, ensuring that individuals from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds receive the necessary support. Athanasios places special emphasis on understanding the individual situation of each applicant and providing respectful and dignified support on the path to a self-determined end of life.

The organization follows the mission of upholding human dignity, promoting social justice, and ensuring a respectful approach to life and death.

Our work is based on the core values of respect, autonomy, and responsibility. We are convinced that self-determination is a fundamental human right, especially during life’s most difficult moments. People who choose Athanasios trust us because of our integrity, reliability and professionalism at every stage of the process.

The positive feedback from our applicants and their families, who describe our support as empathetic and respectful, serves as constant inspiration. It motivates us to continue our work with dedication and care, helping people in their most difficult moments and supporting them in realizing their wishes in a safe and supportive environment.

Our Staff: Mr. Cabrera was a senior nurse at Pegasos. His responsibilities included conducting the pre-consultation about AVD with patients, administering the infusion, and monitoring the insertion site to ensure that the infusion worked correctly without blockages or issues. Additionally, he led the support for patients in their ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) and provided both psychological and nursing support to the patients and their family members. Carlos also worked with LifeCircle and Erika Preisig.

Mrs. Geist also worked for Pegasos following the progress of the applicants’ files and had previously collaborated with Erika Preisig at LifeCircle, mainly as a translator. Mr. Scholaart is the President of the Danish Right to Die Society and has many years of experience helping people organize their trip to Switzerland to carry out their choice to end their life.

The team works with two doctors and three psychiatrists, all of whom have previously worked for either Pegasos or LifeCircle. The evaluation of each application is carried out by a total of six staff members, starting with a personal advisor.

Athanasios operates from a house in Baselland, a suburb of Basel, about six kilometers west of the city center. It is also just six kilometers from Basel-Mulhouse Airport. The house serves both as an office and as the place of their AVD apartment. It is less rural than other locations but not as “industrial.”

Athanasios – for a self-determined and dignified end of life.
